Grasshopper or Cricket?

Everywhere I go at the moment, I can hear the sound of grasshopper, or are they crickets? The main difference between a grasshopper and a cricket is that crickets tend to have long antennae, grasshoppers have short antennae. Grasshoppers detect sound by means of little 'ears' at the base of their abdomen; in crickets these are on the front legs. I really can't tell by the noise they make but I feel lucky to be able to hear them as some people can't hear that range of sound. This is one that made friends with Joseph today.
