Carnivorous plants

Did you know that there are carnivorous (meat eating) plants on Ashdown Forest? Don't worry, they can't manage a whole person. These are sundews which live on some of the boggiest parts of the Forest. Insects get stuck on their sticky tendrils and the plant digests them. The acidic bogs are low in nitrogen so it is a clever way for a plant to get enough nutrients. Round leaved sundews can be seen in a number of places on the Forest, usually near Sphagnum moss.
