Fire

Yesterday morning I was watching birds near Gill's Lap. By the evening the area had been burnt. Sadly this is the worst time of year as wildlife (particularly birds but also reptiles, mammals and invertebrates) has invested a lot of energy in their offspring. Ashdown Forest is of international importance for nature conservation but it is particularly busy at the moment as people are allowed out more. Last night's fire shows the importance of not throwing rubbish, particularly cigarettes, or lighting barbecues on the Forest (nobody knows how this fire started yet.) Keep safe but please share the message with friends and family.
